Thank you for considering our club for your training! Each club swimmer must register with the Elk Grove Aquatics Club. We’re currently waiving the normal $25 registration fee for the team. Shirts and Swim Caps are available for $15 each with all proceeds going to the team.
Drop-in practices are available for $30 for a pack of 5 practices and must be paid for and reserved ahead of time via the Elk Grove Aquatics Club online store.
Practice schedules will be posted at the beginning of each week and online reservations can be made. Cancellations are accepted up to 24 hours ahead of your appointment time. Within 24 hours, there are NO CANCELLATIONS OR TRANSFERS. Please make sure you can make it once you’ve booked the time. If you do not show up for your reserved time, one practice will be removed from your Later Bites Ticket.
All swimmers must be registered with US Masters Swimming in order to swim with the Later Gators. You must provide proof of membership with US Masters Swimming before entering the pool. We are a part of the Pacific Swimming division and the yearly fee for US Masters Swimming is $56. Register at usms.org.
If you’ve never tried Masters Swimming before and would like to give it a spin before committing fully, you can fill out the application for a 30-day trial. You still must pay the drop-in workout fee, but you can put off the full $56 membership to US Masters Swimming until you’re sure you wanna go for it.

Why be a Later Gator?
- Swimming is great exercise
- Swimming with others of your ability is fun
- Coaches work with each swimmer on technique and stroke development
- Never too old to suck at something new
I suck at swimming. Can I still join?
We Later Gators run the full gamut of swim abilities from the former collegiate swimmer to the weekend warriors trying to keep up with their kids. That being said, we do ask that you are comfortable in the water and ready to learn and get better. Our crack coaching staff is ready and willing to help bring swimmers of all levels up to speed and work with you on workouts that fit your skill level.
Where do you swim?
All workouts are at the shiny new Elk Grove Aquatics Center on Big Horn Blvd in Elk Grove, CA. Parking is free and there’s plenty of it.
Are lockers and changing facilities available?
The aquatic center has a full compliment of mens’ and ladies’ locker rooms, but due to limitations due to the Covid-19 pandemic they are closed to all swimmers. During this time we ask that you come to the pool dressed to swim and leave the same way.
I don't have kids swimming with EGAC. Can I still be a Later Gator?
Sure thing! Bring it on. While it is a great opportunity for many of the Gator parents to bond with their kids and share a sport, we welcome anyone interested in improving their swim techniques and availing themselves of this wonderful sport.
Do you offer Long Course Practices?
Ordinarily we offer long course (50m) practices once a week on Saturdays, but during the Covid-19 pandemic we are limiting practices to the short course length only.
Do I have to wear a Speedo?
Any swimsuit will do, but we encourage jammers for the men and one-piece swim suits for the ladies. Many body types are represented in our membership and water is just as wet for all of us. 🙂
Is the pool heated?
The pool is kept between 79-81 degrees, they say. It feels really good once you get moving. 🙂
Are there races you can compete in?
We do not host any meets, but members are free to participate in any open or Masters meets in the area. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic all meets have been cancelled or postponed indefinitely.
Do you offer adult learn to swim courses?
With limited pool space due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we do not currently offer an adult learn to swim class.
